Oum Kalsoum, born on December 31, 1898 (or May 4, 1904, according to some sources) in a village in the Nile Delta, Egypt, was a legendary Egyptian singer. Trained in religious singing by her father, she showcased her exceptional voice early on. Moving to Cairo in the 1920s, she collaborated with influential poets and composers, quickly gaining fame. Known as the "Star of the East, " she captivated the Arab world with her emotive songs and mesmerizing live performances. Her repertoire, rich and varied, explored universal themes like love and sorrow. She also appeared in several films in the 1930s and 1940s. Oum Kalsoum passed away on February 3, 1975, leaving a lasting legacy and influencing generations of artists.
