Bass Drum Of Death are back with their first live record. Recorded in April of 2023 in Chicago, IL it captures the dynamic sound of the Oxford MS trio. Exclusively on Cobraside. Hailing from Oxford, Mississippi, Bass Drum of Death initially started out in 2007 as the one-man-band solo project of singer/guitarist/bassist/drummer John Barrett, releasing the Stain Stick Skin EP on Fat Possum in 2008. A full-length debut, GB City, featuring the single "Young Pros," followed in 2011. Barrett also began touring, working with a varied lineup of musicians for live performances. Moving to Innovative Leisure for 2013's sophomore full-length, Bass Drum of Death, followed by a second album, Rip This (2014) The following year, Barrett announced that the group would be going on hiatus due to "personal issues." The band returned in 2018 with Just Business, released on Century Media, and by 2020, Barrett had put together a new lineup, collaborating with his younger brother, guitarist Jim Barrett, and drummer Ian Kirkpatrick. The trio released the 7" single "Too Cold to Hold/Wait" and spent much of the COVID lockdown working on new material, culminating in 2023, when they reunited with Fat Possum and delivered the group's fifth full-length, the Patrick Carney-produced Say I Won't. A phenomenal live band, they are not to be missed.
