The Ohio Players came into musical prominence in the 1970's as pioneers of street funk and underground R&B. After signing with Mercury Records in 1974 the Ohio Players landed three consecutive platinum albums with Skin Tight, Fire and Honey. 1974's Fire is anchored by the signature title cut which topped both the Billboard Pop Albums chart and the Billboard R&B Albums chart in early 1975. The album also includes the fan favorite "I Want To Be Free."
